Range of application: clinical chemistry, immunology, protein
electrophoresis, serology, microbiology, toxicology.
The interior of the tube wall is coated with a dry clot activator to
accelerate blood clotting. Silicon dioxide is used as a clot
activator.
Serum is produced as a result of a two-step biochemical process:
blood coagulation (clotting) and clot retraction (shrinking).
Serum is a substance free from clotting factors that contains
platelet fragments and metabolic waste products.
Specimen: serum.
Clotting time: 10 to 30 minutes.
Centrifugation conditions: 1300 g for 10 minutes.
Allow the blood to clot completely before centrifugation.
